The High King's Highway passes through the so-called Buffalo Gate that lies between Treft and Balduren. Unmanned and in disrepair, it no longer deters the Goblins it used to. Now merchants curse as they shift their loads to make it through. Travelers stare uneasily on their approach to the dark and gaping portal.
While more than one brigand has set an ambuscade here. It is also true that more than one hedge knight has seen to its safety. Neither stays long for it is said that the Treft side is frequented by the restless dead -- lovers who were slain by a jealous husband.
