A Manual of Maladies: Crypt Rot

A horrible rotting disease with two forms, Crypt Rot was first recorded in the deserts of Southrun and is allegedly related to the exposure of patients to the buried dead. It can only be communicated through physical contact with the infected.

Crypt Rot is usually fatal in one to six months. The charisma of the afflicted is greatly reduced, as is their ability to recover from other wounds.

Some success in treatment has been reported by using boiling water poured on the body of the afflicted. This treatment is temporary and is sometimes considered worse than the disease.

The Major Rot is even more sinister. Fatality occurs in days, not months. Twenty four hours after infection, the patient will lose Strength and Constitution due to the effects of the virus on his body. Like the lesser form, they will also lose Charisma as their skin begins to flake and whither like old parchment.

A person afflicted by the virus will be given to tremors and incapable of even praying for their recovery.

Crypt Rot can be positively diagnosed by the disposition of the body -- it will invariably crumble into dust after death.
