There are three dyes forbidden to nobility and commoners alike, for they are reserved ot the Royal persons of each Land and may not be reproduce in any of those places without decree. Only the finest of clothiers are permitted to dye silks and velvets this way and their secrets are closely guarded. While their exact recipes are hidden, in broad strokes, the following procedures are followed:
First, in Southrun, the Red Dye of their Royal garments is a extract of the roots of the fermented ruby vine. The root is allowed to ferment for two years in particular clay pots.
Second, in Eastrun, the yellow dye of their royal silks is created by boiling bark of a lemon oak and soaking the powdery remains in alcohol.
Finally, in Westrun, the squid of Bal's Bay is milked for its ink and resulting liquid is boiled and applied hot to the garment in question.
