Canon 13: Malenth

MALENTH
Those who had been swayed by Agellas did not fear the pit of ash. For they believed that together they could imagine a better place than any that had been seen. They dreamed of a new celestial city to replace Solenth. It would be one which would eclipse the first city and show the greatness of their plans. So these discontented Felnir entered the darkness of the void which was in the midst of the Forge. All of them were separated from their brethren and separated from Solenth and separated from the Ere All. And because they were left with only their own desires to guide them, in time they became as twisted and foul as their darkest thoughts and were given to war with each other and were subject to constant strife. And so the name of that place is Malenth.

For his part, Agellas, who had been the spokesman of the Felnir, seemed to recoil from the horror of the pit and begged the Ere All to be able to avoid it. He swore also to the company of Aenir that he would put aside his own ambitions and his pride. Then, as proof of his intentions, he cast his Hammer of Might into the Forge of Worlds. He pledged that he would seek nothing of his own design, but only serve his fellows in Solenth, forevermore. So with hearts of great mercy and rejoicing the Seven Lords welcomed Agellas back into their company.

Now the Hammer of Might had not fallen idly into the Forge of Worlds. For what the Aenir took as an act of sorrow was actually part of a greater plan of Agellas. For the mighty hammer entered into the pit and was used by the Malenir, along with the lesser Anvil which had been cast there previously by Moradin. These the Malenir used to create a new Infernal City. This new habitation was not lit by the light of the Lantern of Reason, but received its light from the burning hatred of those who lived therein.

However, the Ere All was not fooled by the machinations of Agellas. So after the making of Malenth he said to all of his servants, "Even if you seek ill, I can make all things well. For even the worst of your thoughts must serve mine in the fullness of time." But these words were not understood by Aenir and their Seven Lords, who looked on in wonder and considered these words.
