Canon 31: The Priesthood and their Seven Strictures

These are the Strictures of Gamasiel. These are written after the Ten Signs were given and the Path was made plain. For many holy men of the old way fought with me and my fellow shepherds, but failed. So then their priesthood was thrown down and their Temples were swept clean.

To all who would follow these strictures, I offer the New Priesthood of He who was forgotten, but is remembered again.

The Seven Strictures:
  1. You must remember that you are not to act and conduct yourself as the former priesthood. You must wear clothing suited to your state and avoid all jewelry and ornamentation.
  2. You must remember that those who rose against us used blades and not piety. Therefore, eschew edged weapons unless you be mistaken for one of them.
  3. You must not engage in a trade or conduct secular business. You cannot charge or pay any interest. You may not accrue personal wealth, except what is minimally required for survival.
  4. You must be celibate for you will reproduce yourself only in the vows of others who take up the shepherds crook.
  5. You must obey the seven spheres of authority and thereby bind yourself to a Prefect and to the Church hierarchy whenever possible.
  6. You must administer the seven rites of the faithful when requested and appropriate.
  7. You must fulfill the seven duties to all people and especially the unbeliever.
