The Second Letter of Scot of Tols

To the Lords Continous, and the Order of the Unceasing Circle

From he who is without vain striving, your base-born apprentice, called Scot of Tols

a second report born by a hooved wonder and a friend to all.

My lords, I received your repeated demand for my recall with great disappointment. My previous letter must have been cause for alarm and yet you do not show it. I cannot imagine how my obedience to you will serve the Order best. I am on the cusp of learning the very things you demanded me to discover. If my first letter was insufficiently clear, let me say that I beg your leave to continue -- for I am very close indeed.

Now, in my previous letter I spoke of the existence of a secret order of wizards and there can no longer be doubt about that. My investigation has brought me to Laketon and into the unsuspecting towers of certain Magisters. I have discovered many troubling things while enlisting myself as a learner at an accepted master's hands. My new trade is thought to be none other than magic itself!

Contrary to my first writing, I have learned that the Solomonari, are not wizards at all. Rather that those men are but sages. Nevertheless, I believe that the Solomonari are somehow inextricably linked to this phantom order of wizards. Feeling your displeasure, I will refrain from unproven conjecture in my missives that follow, I assure you.

Let me repeat myself for emphasis. I have learned that the many magisters, which are often thought to be rivals or enemies of one another and in service of their local lords, actually seem to be working in concert. They are allied through their commitment to their own nightmarish Order, which is a mockery of our own. While I have not seen its definite shape, I tell you that I can feel its presence.

That these matters need further investigation is without question. I have seen firsthand that the wizards have purchased for themselves certain political protections among the worlds kings and regents. I have observed that their pride has no bounds. Any Order of which they are a part is surely to be even more nefarious than that.

As more will be forthcoming, I beg your leave to continue.
