"One of us prevails": The Contests of the Hierophant

Among the Curates, a Guardian is the keeper of an Arvanaith -- the holy place. It is the rank bestowed upon one of their order who has proven himself capable of leading others toward true neutrality. The Guardian becomes responsible for the sanctity of the relics and graves of a certain community; as well as being their chief diplomat. If he is not made a Guardian, the Curate will become a Hierophant and will spend the next years in preparation for the Contests.

After what might be a lifetime of seeking harmony, It is a strange paradox that for curates to advance in their orders, they must undergo interpersonal combat, or else plateau at their level of ability. This duel is a sacred and honors bound tradition that no druid will sully.

Combatants will always be properly challenged and given notice. No combatant will use more than their faculties and personal weaponry. No combat will occur on holy ground. No combatant will accept any aid from others.

"One of us prevails," is both a challenge and an affirmation of the curates creed. It is said when approaching another to begin their contest, or as a statement of fact at a contest's end.
