Koharenth is a world too dim to be seen with the naked eye. It is the tragic home to only three intelligent species of creatures, the rest having been slain or hunted to extinction. The Gith, the Giff and the Illithyd live in their respective lands and occasionally make war on the others. Aside from those three, the only other creatures that remain on their planet are large rats (osquip) and an eight-legged giant insect known as aratha. As both these species are omnivores they are the only things that could survive the rapid collapse of the ecosystem.
The only plant life extant on Koharenth is the Xerophyte bush, which acts much like a tumbleweed, but which has poisonous seeds. Water on Koharenth is either polluted behind redemption or filled with salt and other minerals which make it unsuitable for agriculture.
Having no animal life left, the three species use their technology to go off world in search of sustenance and nourishment. Their great rivalry at home has sometimes meant bitter wars in other off-world settings.
