Lareth

In addition to Goren the crafter and Jelas the architect; there were three who distinguished themselves in the eyes of their fellow Aenire. These were known not only for their strength and learning, but for the ways they had acquitted themselves both in building and in war. These three were Yomal, Morad, and Lareth.

To the three Jelas came scheming and he said, “Let us now be careful, for in the making of Solenth and in prosecution of war we have troubled the Ere All greatly. We ought to live quietly among ourselves and disturb our Creator but little. Perhaps just one should speak on our behalf.”

Then Lareth rose and he spoke as if the idea were his own, saying, “Let all the Aenire choose a Vice-regent who shall speak to the Ere All on behalf of Solenth. Our Vice-regent shall serve our creator by bearing any messages to him or from him. Then, though we are numerous, we shall be as one and we shall trouble him but a little at a time.”
