Goren

"Goren shaped the Gnomes to love tools and devices of many sorts..."

The Aenire were the highest order of the servants of the Ere All that dwelled in the region of Erenth. They were deceived into creating their own races of people and bringing them into the world to dwell. They gave up their own power to do so and lost their ability to take physical form.

"The Ere All called into the Niloruh and the echoes of his words became the shapes of his thoughts. From those echoes came a people. They were first of those with the ability to learn and to choose. They were beings of immense power -- though each was but an echo of the whisper of the Ere All. They were the Aenir  – the first people. The number of Aenir was beyond counting, but one of them, Goren, was a master of craft and had such shrewdness as few could challenge.

There were other Aenir and these all together used their imaginations and they labored with it, and they fashioned from it, using tools which Goren devised in imitation of the Ere All. And yet, they labored in darkness, far from the Lamp of Reason. It was not for evil purpose that they labored in darkness, but only perchance to surprise – as earnest children might prepare a gift for their father.

So, in secret they built a great hall and beneath its roof, a mighty throne. When they were finished with their first making, the embers taken from the Forge of Passion burned brightly still, so the Aenir built on. Without restraint they built, ever adding to the hall. They made towers and spires in great number, until a city sprang up where only empty vastness had been. This they did to honor their maker and to anticipate his desire."
