Amwaji of the Currents

Amwaji rules the restless waters of Southrun’s oceans and hidden currents. Known as the Sovereign of the Shifting Tides, Amwaji embodies both the chaotic and malevolent nature of water’s unpredictable flow. His domain stretches from roaring sea storms to the silent undercurrents that drag unwary sailors to their doom.

Amwaji is a being of the old world, one of the Aeniresa who joined themselves to Erenth before the ice melted and it was filled in animals.

A being of mercurial temperament, Amwaji delights in upheaval and disruption. His followers—often fishermen, sailors, and coastal tribes—offer him tribute to appease his wrath, hoping to avoid sudden storms or shipwrecks. Yet even the devout fear him, for Amwaji’s favor is fickle, and his fury swift. Legends tell of entire fleets swallowed beneath waves in moments, of inland rivers reversing course, flooding fertile lands overnight.

Despite his dark reputation, Amwaji’s chaotic currents also serve a necessary role: they cleanse stagnant waters, tear down the old, and allow new life to flourish. His power is both destructive and renewing—a brutal force that shapes Erenth’s waterways.

Visually, Amwaji is said to appear as a tall figure cloaked in swirling water, his eyes glinting like shards of broken ice, hair flowing like tangled kelp, and his voice echoing with the crash of breakers. To cross Amwaji is to gamble with fate itself, for his currents can either grant swift passage or drag one endlessly into the abyss.
